Baked Alaska

Baked Alaska

1 Sara Lee pound cake
1 brick of ice cream (1 quart)
2/3 cup sugar
5 egg whites

Trim cake 1 inch larger than ice cream. Place on parchment paper.
Gradually add sugar to egg whites and beat to stiff peaks. Spread over ice cream ; seal carefully to edges of cake. Bake at 450 degrees until golden brown about 5 min. To serve, slide from paper to serving dish.
